Travelers Club International Restaurant and Tuba Museum
###About ####For more than 25 years, the Travelers Club has served its eclectic menu and has become a local landmark in downtown Okemos. It is listed in travel books such as “Michigan Curiosities” and was featured in TV travel shows like “One Tank Trips.”
The 24-page menu has something for everyone, from buffalo burgers to burritos, with many vegetarian choices, kids’ specials, homemade cobbler and desserts from a 1950s-era soda fountain. The Indonesian Peanut stir fry has been described as addictive by patrons, some of whom drive 75 miles for the dish. Food from different regions is featured weekly to create a “traveling” menu that sends your taste buds around the world.
Eight Michigan micro brews on tap are among the 120 beers and 35 wines by the glass, from 34 countries of origin.
The “museum” decor of fifty tubas shares the walls with African masks and world maps. On the garden patio, a Sousaphone Sundial and world’s only Sousaphountain complement a trompe l’oeil mural. Enjoy the serene setting when weather permits. Travelers Club has been open seven days a week since 1982 for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the corner of Okemos Road and Hamilton, two blocks south of Grand River.
